Our story
In July 2017, pediatrician Dr. Muhammad Ali Mirza visited Gilgit, Pakistan, accompanied by his family. Upon hearing about the scarcity of pediatric care in the region, they decided to set up a weekend clinic with the help of a local friend.
What began as a modest initiative swiftly gained momentum through word-of-mouth, drawing in hundreds of families from Gilgit and its surroundings. To Dr. Mirza's astonishment, a staggering 80% of the children he encountered exhibited physical deformities requiring urgent rehabilitation and essential aids like wheelchairs. It became abundantly clear that a weekend clinic would be insufficient in providing the care needed; a sustainable solution was imperative.
Inspired by this eye-opening experience, the seed of Zain Ul Abideen Rehabilitation Center (ZRC) was sown. ZRC, officially opened in March 2018, is a facility aimed at providing continuous support and care for children who are deaf, mute, and physically handicapped. It aims to offer not just medical assistance but also education and accommodation, empowering these children to lead more independent lives.
